The Paranoyds Skewer Hollywood’s Obsession With Surface Perfection In 'Hotel Celebrity'

The Paranoyds go under the needle in their latest music video for ‘Hotel Celebrity’ - we need their surgeons number ASAP.

When I think about the last four years, no matter how rough things were, live music was the constant refuge. After going through my ticket stubs, confirmation emails and festival credentials, The Paranoyds probably sound-tracked more of these moments than anyone. Now that the world has turned to shit—or at least a runnier form of it—our eternal torment no longer gets a temporary reprieve from seeing bands and sharing a joint between sets, but the good news is there’s some new Paranoyds content to tide us over!

Live staple “Pet Cemetery” was curiously absent from their 2019 debut Carnage Bargain, but now it’s finally here to haunt our lockdown. If you’re unfamiliar, consider “Pet Cemetery” a four minute crash course in The Paranoyds and their idiosyncratic mix of horror and garage punk that strikes that impossible balance between love, fun and wickedness from a tormented organ intro to an apocalyptic finale.

Paired with “Pet Cemetery” on the EP of the same name is “Hotel Celebrity.” Representing their sunnier side, “Hotel Celebrity” skewers Hollywood’s obsession with surface perfection and the delusion that time doesn’t exist if you bury it under enough botox. Watch the video for their hilarious send-ups on the plastic surgery scene and the kind of extreme closeups rarely seen outside dental or fetish videos.
