Torrance, California based musician Justin Sanchez A.K.A. Box has just shared ‘Forest Boys’, the first single off of his upcoming EP Stop Trying. Following his 2020 LP Expense To Exist, Box’s new EP is set to drop March 5th and the lead single is a serene, acoustic ballad perfect for cruising up and down the coast while reminiscing on your youth with a hopeful optimism. We asked Sanchez about his inspiration for the single as well as what we can expect off the new record:

What was the inspiration for your new single ‘Forest Boys’?

‘Forest Boys’ was written about 3 months into the pandemic. I was reflecting on how life was way easier when I was a child, about 10 years old. I lived in a city called Ikego, Japan. Me and my friends were surrounded by these huge Japanese trees and grassy hills that made for a lot of exploring and youthful hi-jinx! The chorus kinda snaps things into the present and yearns to relive those blissful moments and not have to worry about what's currently going on. Even for a quick moment. Nowadays I'm working from home, being sedentary and sitting so much it actually hurts my knees. A sign of aging I suppose (laughs)

What can we expect off the upcoming EP ‘Stop Trying’?

Stop Trying will be a more pop-centric release. My goal was to make it accessible with its own unique twists. I wanted to re-teach myself how to write simple songs and lay a "foundation" so maybe I don't repeat myself later.
