Janelane and the slow-dance heartbreak of “Flowers From Athens”

“Flowers From Athens” is a dreamy world of heartbreak and distance. The slow-dance tone of the track sombers a melancholy feeling of what was, or what could have been. And with an equally laxed music video, “Flowers From Athens” is an impressively enchanting single from the Los Angeles-based Janelane.

The steady, slow trickle of a lonely guitar riff guides the single into a pink lullaby. “Flowers From Athens” is sweet and polished. The music video, filtered through an ancient tube t.v. adds to the song’s remiscienting tone. Janelane’s single sets out to accomplish one goal, and it reaches that goal exceptionally well.
