Today the LA and Chicago based TÜLIPS released "Love Chain," a doo wop meets riot grrl track about love - and the radical act of asking for what you want.

In some dreamy alternate COVID-free universe, TÜLIPS is playing a kitschy John Waters meets Grease style prom themed show, wearing poofy dresses or pastel suits and drinking spiked punch. When they play their infectious new single "Love Chain," there's not a single person up against the wall. Also, Bernie is president.

“Love Chain” is about breaking the chain of love patterns in order to let epic love into your life. It's also about asking for what you want!," vocalist and guitarist Taleen Kali said. "I was beginning to want more, something that didn't just feel like the same pattern over and over again"

"Love Chain" is the second single from the TÜLIPS 2020 virtual reunion, celebrating the 5 year anniversary of their LP "Doom & Bloom." In June they released "Panda," a song about police brutality to raise money for Black Lives Matter, and both tracks were recorded in 2014 remaining unreleased until this year.

The track feels like Buddy Holly, Hunx and his Punx, 7 Year Bitch and The Strokes all wrapped up as a perfect piece of bubblegum punk that will be stuck in your head all day. Kali and vocalist/guitarist Teddy Bloom drive the track with their sweet and fiery vocal exchanges, while the drums and bass create the ideal song to dance to alone at home during quarantine (and maybe one day at a prom themed show).

Kali says they hope the take-away is "To feel empowered to ask for what you want! If it means more love, then to ask for it! If it means to say no to bullshit, then that! Whatever 'more' means to you."

Despite being recorded six years ago, "Love Chain" feels like a celebration of the future - a future of loving fiercely, breaking old patterns, and asking for whatever the fuck you want.
