Seattle's alternative 4-piece Antonioni released ‘Malcomerthis Wednesday as their second single out on Lauren Records this year. "Malcomer" is dark and dancey, ethereal and effervescent; weaving sparkling guitar riffs with Sarah Pasilla's vocal delivery that somehow hits as powerful, serene, and haunting all at once.

"This song is about the journey of finding validation in the self, in what you love and do, in the face of everything you feel is against you," Pasillas explained. "It’s kind of a peek into how I feel when I think about men in music and men in general: it feels they have automatic permission and authority to be and express."

Pasillas took inspiration from The Twilight Zone (specifically the episode "Nothing in the Dark") and Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself" to tell the story of something to be truly celebrated - finding yourself amidst the chaos of the world.

"This song is supposed to be a celebration of finding and knowing the self, finding and knowing vulnerability and moving forward with it, even more sure of yourself than before," Pasillas said.

Antonioni has a knack for writing songs that feel like they have a complete life of their own. Both of their new singles "Malcomer" and "Mary Bell" are well thought out yet seemingly effortless, while remaining authentic and full of heart. They somehow capture that electric, heart-wrenching feeling you get when you see your favorite artist preforming live right in front of you, and that is needed now more than ever.
